Blink and I'll be Gone...

Hello Everyone!

     I have started this blog to keep friends, family and strangers up to date on the adventure I am about to take in Bangladesh. 

     On May 1st, my self and four other girls (Bilan Arte, Lauren Reeves, Lindsay Graham, and our mentor Delaney Coelho) will be setting out on a 5 week service learning program to Bangladesh!! Although I have about 3 weeks before I leave, it just hit me yesterday that I will actually be going on this trip and I am so very excited to go!!. With applying for jobs, moving out of residence for the last time :( and trying to get ready for my trip the time is flying.

     So what am I doing on this trip and where?? Here is a brief estimated timeling of my trip:
May 1st- plane leaves Winnipeg
May 3rd- arrive in Dhaka, Bangladesh
             -do some site seeing and meet some important people
May 5th- travel to Rangpur (approx 7 hours from Dhaka)
May 7th-12th- travel to Thakurgaon for a field visit
             - visit schools, and adolescent center for girls, learn about microcredit finance, tribal issues and much                 more
May 12th- return to Rangpur
May 13th- travel to Saidpur
              - work at drop in centre for sex trade workers
May 18th- travel to Nilphamari  for a field visit
              - learn about water, hygiene and sanitation
May 19&20-rest in Rangpur
May 21st- travel to Lalimonirhat
               -focus on health, and medical system, also visit some religious places
May 26th-return to Rangpur
May 28th- travel to Kurigram, then take a boat to Manushmara Char
               - learn about Chars
June 1st-return to Rangpur
June 2nd- return to Dhaka
June 3-4th-site seeing in Dhaka
June 5th- some of the group returns to Canada...I'll keep travelling for 2 weeks but not sure where to yet :S

That's it for now...I have tri-conferences at my school tomorrow so I have to get through that first I guess :) The next blog will likely be from Bangladesh so see you then!!
